Father Greg Alberts

Welcome! I’m Father Greg Alberts. I am a priest of the Diocese of Joliet-in-Illinois serving in parish ministry in the City of Joliet.

I was ordained in May of 2022. Since, in addition to my parish and school ministry, I have served as a retreat master for men’s and women’s spiritual retreats, spiritual director and confessor to men and women discerning the priesthood and religious life, and as a member of the Diocesan Vocations Advisory Board, working with seminarians and the vocations director to screen candidates for seminary and optimize the formation of the men preparing for priesthood within the Diocese.

In my free time, I enjoy golfing poorly, reading and learning about random topics (for example, last month, I spent a couple weeks learning about the Spanish Monarchy), and collecting art from various places.

What I hope to offer…

One of the most rewarding and edifying things about priestly ministry is helping people to see what is True, Good, and Beautiful. To show the people of God what He has shown me as we journey to Heaven together.

The primary vehicle for this for any priest, and especially a parish priest, is through the Sunday homily. Each week, I try to answer a simple question: “What now?”

My preaching style is extemporaneous and “conversational”. I make an effort to weave the Tradition of the Church, the teaching of the saints, and practical spiritual themes into my preaching.

So, each week, I will publish my Sunday homily - both recorded and transcribed for your reflection and prayer. Additionally, I hope to post talks from retreats and other events whenever possible, articles and commentaries on spiritual or theological topics, and occasionally (read: carefully) on current events when it seems opportune or relevant.

I’m certain, like all things, this endeavor will evolve into different forms over time. If nothing else, this will serve as an archive of my most important priestly work: the proclamation of the Kingdom of God.
